VAN BUREN COUNTY LITERACY COUNCIL
ADULT LEARNING CENTER
All learning sessions are private with just one learner at a time (except for some computer classes). All services are free of charge and scheduled at the convenience of the learner (day or evening). Sessions can be one-time, occasional or ongoing. Books and other learning materials are free. Free babysitting can be arranged.
Learning Center tutors work with adults who cannot read at all or who are on a low reading level, as well as those who need to improve comprehension or vocabulary on higher levels.
Our tutors will teach whatever math skills are needed by the student which could include basic math, decimals, fractions, ratios, percents, pre-algebra, etc. We also teach higher math subjects such as algebra and geometry.
The Learning Center teaches any subject that the student needs help with in order to enter the GED program such as reading, math or composition. Tutors also help students prepare for college entrance exams, and help college students with homework and studying for tests.
The Center welcomes people who have no or very few computer skills. With a one-on-one format, the computer student feels more comfortable learning basic skills. There are also classes that teach more advanced skills, such as Word or EXCEL.
